One of our core values is Continuous Improvement – As individuals and as an organisation we need to continually lean and improve.
We do this in many ways, including, from time to time, having team members attend activities that are outside of their normal working environment to learn about the broader scope of work delivered by the organisation.
Aviation Projects is assisting Queensland Health to improve operations at a number of helipads that support medical retrieval operations.
We recently visited Dunwich, on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), to conduct a survey of the obstacles around the existing helipad and determine alternative flight paths, with due consideration of cultural sensitivities associated with a particular species of tree.
We took the opportunity for Sharna Tonkin, who is our Redcliffe-based (YRED) Aerodrome Reporting Officer, to attend the site visit and learn some more helicopter operations and the obstacle surveying task.
Sharna is pictured with our trusted partner Bryan Fitzgerald from Airport Surveys, checking out the gradient to a nearby obstacle.
At Aviation Projects, we provide trusted advice about airport planning, development and operations and aerodrome safeguarding. Contact us today.
