As part of an airport master planning activity, Aviation Projects met with representatives of the Evans Head Heritage Aviation Museum to discuss their current operations and future plans.
The Evans Head Heritage Aviation Museum, which is located at Evans Head aerodrome (YEVD) and nearby Evans Head Air Weapons Range, boasts some incredible exhibits which all have direct association with the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.
The President, Mr Ken Duplock, explained that the Museum is part of Australia's Aviation Museum National Network and regularly hosts visits from schools, community groups and even international visitors. He also said that it would be great to have more room and a humidity-controlled facility, as there are many offers of exhibits that can't be accepted due to current limitations.
While they were there, Keith Tonkin and Craig Abela took some time to look around the exhibits, including the awesome F-111C A8-147, which Keith flew in the long range strike role during his time at No 1SQN at RAAF Base Amberley.
The aviation industry is continually evolving as new technologies emerge, but it is worth reflecting on the endeavours of those who came before us and the amazing things they did with the technologies available to them.
