The Australian Airports Association (AAA) National Conference and Industry Expo 2022 took place in Adelaide from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th November.
AP's Keith Tonkin attended the annual conference, delivering a presentation on Commercialising Emerging Technologies - Establishing an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Ecosystem in Australia.
"AAM is a system of safe, affordable, and automated air transportation for passengers and cargo in urban and rural settings” – NASA.
“AAM describes a range of aircraft (both crewed and uncrewed) which will transport passengers and larger freight” - CASA
Keith's presentation explored the development and implementation of AAM in Australia and other jurisdictions, our own historic revolutionisation of aviation and what we may need in order to successfully operate this technology both from a planning and commercial perspective.
Brisbane has been identified as a potential early adopter of eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) flights, with some planning subject to the 2032 Olympic Games, which the city will host.
