Aviation Projects has been integral to the success of our airport and continues to be a valued advisor to our business.
On 13-15 July, Aviation Projects visited Kempsey Airport (YKMP) to commence stakeholder engagement in support of the development of the Kempsey Airport Master Plan.
Kempsey Airport is owned and operated by Kempsey Shire Council and is located midway between the regional centres of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. The airport is uniquely positioned and is used for a range of commercial and recreational purposes, such as aircraft maintenance, charter operations, pilot training, skydiving, a local flying club, general aviation, and medical and emergency services.
The location of the airport and its infrastructure makes it an important asset to help keep rural and regional Australia connected, especially during emergencies.
The Kempsey Airport Master Plan will establish a framework for the future planning and development of Kempsey Airport, provide a clear direction for the future planning of airport facilities and act as an important link to other planning strategies for the region, including the NSW Government’s 20-year Economic Vision for Regional NSW.
The Master Plan will ensure the airport continues to facilitate the delivery of essential goods and services, identifies further aviation training and education opportunities, improves connectivity to domestic and potential future markets, continues to meet aeromedical and emergency services in the region and explore other prospects to support the region.
The Master Plan will be developed following comprehensive engagement and ongoing consultation with aircraft operators, other members of the aviation industry, Australian and NSW Government Agencies, the tourism industry, the business sector and the local community, and other key stakeholders.
